CAN suspended Sandeep Lamichhane for final two matches against West Indies

KATHMANDU: The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has announced that former captain Sandeep Lamichhane was suspended for the remaining two matches of the Unity Cup series against the West Indies.

Issuing a statement on Wednesday evening, CAN said Lamichhane was suspended after he decided not to play just 45 minutes before the start of the first match on September 27. The statement noted that his last-minute decision had a serious impact on team management, players, and Nepali cricket as a whole.

Following the recommendation of the management, CAN suspended Lamichhane for the rest of the series.

However, CAN confirmed that Lamichhane will be available for the ICC T20 World Cup Qualifiers starting October 8 in Oman.
