PM Karki to abstain from receiving Dashain tika this year
Prime Minister Sushila Karki has announced that she will not be receiving Dashain tika this year. According to her Chief Personal Secretary, Adarsh Kumar Shrestha, although Dashain is traditionally celebrated with joy and enthusiasm, the Prime Minister decided not to take part in the tika ceremony this year as a mark of respect for the youth who lost their lives and the many who were injured during the recent Gen-Z movement.
NC objects recommendation of passport suspension of former PM, Minister, home ministry officials
The Nepali Congress has objected to the suspension of passports of five individuals, including former Prime Minister and Home Minister of the previous government. NC chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel, issuing a press release today drew the interim government’s attention to not encouraging impunity and not engaging in retaliatory politics against political parties.
Woman killed by lightning strike in Jhapa
A woman died after being struck by lightning in Jhapa today. According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Khagendra Bahadur Khadka of the District Police Office, the victim has been identified as 35-year-old Dilkumari Rishidev of Biratmod Municipality-3.
Streets in Kathmandu Valley deserted on Mahanavami
The streets of Kathmandu Valley appeared deserted on the day of Mahanavami, a major day of the Dashain festival. As vehicles are also traditionally worshipped on this day, only a limited number of vehicles were seen on the roads. The capital was further quiet as a large number of people had returned to their hometowns to celebrate the festival.
President Paudel performs Kanya Puja
President Ramchandra Paudel performed the traditional Kanya Puja on the occasion of Ashwin Shukla Navami at the President’s Office today. According to the President’s Secretariat, he worshipped nine young girls residing at the Bal Mandir in Naxal. The ritual of worshipping nine girls, regarded as the embodiment of Goddess Navadurga, has been observed annually by the Head of State on Mahanavami.
Devotees flock to Taleju Bhawani Temple on Mahanavami
On the occasion of Mahanavami, the Taleju Bhawani Temple in Kathmandu opened its doors to the public today, drawing an overwhelming crowd of devotees since early morning. The temple, located at Hanumandhoka Durbar Square, remains closed to the public throughout the year except on the Ashwin Shukla Navami, or Mahanavami, when thousands gather to offer prayers and seek blessings.
Manakamana Cable Car service suspended for three days from today
The Manakamana Cable Car service has been suspended for three days starting today, in observance of the Dashain festival. According to Ujjwal Sherchan, Manager of the Manakamana Cable Car Company, services will resume on Saturday, October 4.

Vice President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav has emphasized that families must view their elderly members not merely as dependents in need of care but as pillars of strength and wisdom within the household. In a message marking the International Day of Older Persons on October 1, Yadav underscored the moral responsibility of the younger generation to honor, empathize with, and remain sensitive toward senior citizens.
Man arrested for misbehaving with on-duty police in Kathmandu
Police have arrested a man on charges of verbally abusing and misbehaving with officers deployed for road safety duty. According to the Kathmandu District Police Range, 36-year-old Newang Tamang of Ghyanglekh Rural Municipality-5, Sindhuli, was taken into custody from Buddhanagar in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-10.
