PM Karki to abstain from receiving Dashain tika this year

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushila Karki has announced that she will not be receiving Dashain tika this year.

According to her Chief Personal Secretary, Adarsh Kumar Shrestha, although Dashain is traditionally celebrated with joy and enthusiasm, the Prime Minister decided not to take part in the tika ceremony this year as a mark of respect for the youth who lost their lives and the many who were injured during the recent Gen-Z movement.

Her secretariat also clarified that she will not be applying tika herself, and urged the general public to refrain from doing so as well during this period of grief.
