Vehicle worship observed on Mahanavami

KATHMANDU: Mahanavami, celebrated on Ashwin Shukla Navami, is marked with prayers to Goddess Durga and traditional animal sacrifices.

On this day, it is customary to worship vehicles. Owners clean and decorate their vehicles before performing rituals using various offerings. While some still observe the practice of animal sacrifice, many symbolically perform the ritual by breaking coconuts or offering other items.

According to traditional belief, worshipping vehicles on Mahanavami ensures their longevity and safe operation.
