POKHARA: Image Savings and Credit Cooperative has started returning deposits to savers with balances under Rs 100,000 in Pokhara.
The cooperative has already refunded 613 depositors with small savings in Baglung and has now begun returning funds to 158 depositors at its Pokhara branch.
Dilbahadur Karki, coordinator of the Cooperative Victims’ Struggle Committee, said that out of 524 members at the Pokhara branch, 158 have savings of less than Rs 100,000. He confirmed that their funds will be returned gradually.
For depositors with savings exceeding Rs 100,000, Karki said the cooperative plans to provide land and houses in Baglung, Pokhara, Chitwan, and Kathmandu as a form of compensation.
The committee has been coordinating with Mina Group Pvt. Ltd. of Parbat to process these refunds. As part of the agreement, all property under the names of the cooperative’s founder Devkumar Nepali and his wife will be handed over to the company to facilitate repayment to the depositors, Karki added.
