PM Oli meets Cambodian PM Hun Manet and Maldivian President Muizzu in Tianjin



TIANJIN: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli today held bilateral meetings with his Cambodian counterpart Hun Manet and Maldivian President Dr Mohamed Muizzu on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit 2025 in Tianjin, China.

In his meeting with Prime Minister Hun Manet, the two leaders discussed strengthening Nepal–Cambodia relations, with a focus on expanding trade, investment, and areas of mutual cooperation. They also underscored the importance of high-level exchanges to further consolidate ties, according to the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.

Oli’s delegation at the meeting included former Deputy Prime Minister and lawmaker Purna Bahadur Khadka, Education Minister Raghuji Pant, Tourism Minister Badri Prasad Pandey, former minister and economic advisor Dr Yubraj Khatiwada, lawmaker Chhabi Lal Bishwokarma, and Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai.

Later, Prime Minister Oli met with Maldivian President Dr Mohamed Muizzu. The two leaders focused their talks on the urgent challenges posed by climate change, emphasizing the responsibility of major powers in addressing the global crisis. Oli proposed enhanced Nepal–Maldives cooperation on climate resilience, stressing the need for joint efforts to safeguard sustainability “from the mountains to the sea.”

High-level officials from Nepal’s delegation were also present at the discussions with President Muizzu.

Oli’s back-to-back meetings in Tianjin highlighted Nepal’s push to strengthen regional ties and address common concerns during the SCO Summit.
