NC’s Kalyan Kumar Gurung urges early candidate announcement for 2027 elections

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) central member Kalyan Kumar Gurung has called for the party to announce its candidates for all three levels of the 2027 elections without delay.

Gurung said candidates for the House of Representatives, Provincial Assembly, and local levels should be officially declared and presented to voters as soon as possible.

“Nepali Congress must legally announce 165 candidates for the House of Representatives, 330 for the Provincial Assemblies, and 753 for local bodies, and send them to the electorate now,” Gurung wrote on Facebook.

While acknowledging that some may feel the announcement is early, Gurung noted that finalizing candidates requires significant effort, and the process is already behind schedule.

“Many may think this decision is premature, but it is already too late. A lot of work remains to be done,” he added.
