Cloudy skies and scattered rain forecast across Nepal

KATHMANDU: Unstable monsoon conditions continue to affect Nepal, with the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology reporting that the monsoon low-pressure trough remains south of its average position.

Additionally, moisture-rich winds from the Arabian Sea are contributing to ongoing rainfall across various regions.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, skies are generally cloudy over the hilly areas of Madhes, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces, as well as other regions, while remaining partly cloudy elsewhere. Light to moderate rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, is occurring in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

This afternoon, widespread cloud cover is expected to persist nationwide. Moderate rainfall is likely in parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces, and at a few locations in other hilly and Terai areas. There is also a chance of heavy rain at one or two places in Bagmati and Sudurpaschim provinces.

Cloudy skies are forecast to continue tonight, with moderate rain possible in parts of Sudurpaschim Province and some hilly areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini. Isolated showers are also likely in other Terai regions.
