Over 70,000 foreign tourists visit Nepal in July

KATHMANDU: Nepal welcomed a total of 70,193 foreign tourists in July 2025—an increase of 8.7 percent compared to July of the previous year.

According to the Nepal Tourism Board, Nepal has recovered 99 percent of pre-pandemic tourist arrivals compared to April 2019, signaling a strong rebound in the tourism sector after the disruptions caused by COVID-19.

From January to July 2025, a total of 647,882 foreign tourists arrived in Nepal. This is the highest number of arrivals recorded in any year since the pandemic.

Deepak Raj Joshi, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Nepal Tourism Board, stated that these numbers reflect the revival of Nepal’s tourism industry and its re-establishment as a popular global destination.

Of the total arrivals in July, the highest number of tourists came from India—27,152 visitors or 38.7 percent. China followed with 6,890 visitors (9.8 percent), the United States with 6,626 (9.4 percent), Bangladesh with 4,413 (6.3 percent), and the United Kingdom with 3,547 (5.1 percent).

Regionally, the largest number of tourists came from South Asia (33,787 people or 48.1 percent), followed by other Asian countries (13,522 or 18.6 percent), Europe (9,292 or 13.2 percent), the Americas (12,775 or 11.1 percent), Oceania (1,807 or 2.6 percent), the Middle East (826 or 1.2 percent), Africa (318 or 0.5 percent), and other regions (3,329 or 4.7 percent).
