NAWALPARASI: Nine drinking water projects that had been under construction for eight years in Bardaghat Susta West, Nawalparasi, have now come into operation.
Four of the projects were funded by the federal government, while five were supported by the provincial government. These projects have been brought into operation in the current fiscal year 2081/82, according to Prakash Neupane, Chief of the Nawalparasi Drinking Water and Sanitation Office.
The projects constructed by the Lumbini Provincial Government include the Mudhaha Drinking Water Project, Bhagwati Mandir Drinking Water Project, Bandebi Drinking Water Project, Kunuwar Drinking Water Project, and Kanchanpur Drinking Water Project.
Meanwhile, the federal government funded the Bardaghat-1 Panchanagar Drinking Water Project, Daunne Devi Drinking Water Project, Sukrauli Drinking Water Project, and Chibani Drinking Water Project.
With the goal of ensuring clean drinking water access for every citizen, the federal and provincial governments allocated a total of Rs 112.477 million for these projects.
They were completed at a combined cost of Rs 103.795 million. Chief Neupane stated that 1,057 households have benefited so far.
Ram Prasad Neupane, chairperson of the Chibani Drinking Water Consumers’ Committee, said 235 taps have been installed since the project became operational.
Similarly, 70 taps have been installed under the Kunuwar Drinking Water Project. Birendra Yadav, chairperson of the Kunuwar Drinking Water Consumers’ Committee, added that work to connect more taps is ongoing.
