Scattered showers with thunderstorms expected today



KATHMANDU: Monsoon winds continue to affect the country, with the low-pressure line of the monsoon currently shifting northward from its average position and lying close to western Nepal, according to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology.

This afternoon, the weather will remain generally cloudy across the country. Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some hilly areas, including Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, as well as in a few other parts of the country.

There is also a chance of heavy rainfall at one or two places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces. Light to moderate rain and snowfall are expected in some high hilly and mountainous regions.

Tonight, the hilly regions—including Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces—will remain generally cloudy, while the rest of the country will be partly cloudy.

Light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely in some hilly areas of these provinces and a few other locations. One or two places in Koshi, Madhes, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces may also experience heavy rainfall.

Light to moderate rain and snowfall are expected to continue in some parts of the high hilly and mountainous areas.
