GAIGHAT: Several rural roads in the hilly areas of Udayapur district have been blocked following heavy rainfall on Saturday.
The road section from the district headquarters Gaighat to Rauta has been obstructed, along with key rural routes such as Rauta–Salle and Rauta–Bhutar.
According to local resident Dilliram Magar, roads in the Pambu area including Rauta–Namanta, Rauta–Aaptar, Nametar–Okhreni, and Rametar–Bhadaure have also been blocked.
The road to Majhkharka via Rauta–Murkuchi and Dilli Bar has collapsed in multiple sections, with flood-induced potholes making it impassable.
The district experienced continuous rainfall for more than three hours on Saturday.
Ganga Ghalemgar of Dumre reported that the Bhalayadanda–Barre and Dumre–Udayapurgadhi rural municipality roads have also caved in due to the downpour.
Similarly, the road connecting Mainamaini from Kothu in Belka Municipality-8 has collapsed and remains closed to vehicular movement.
