President Paudel emphasizes boosting production and productivity

KATHMANDU: President Ram Chandra Paudel has underscored the need to enhance national production and productivity.

In his message on the occasion of World Workers’ Day, President Paudel extended his best wishes to all Nepali workers at home and abroad, expressing hope that the day would inspire greater use of domestic products, respect for labour, promotion of self-employment, fair wages, and social security.

He emphasized the unifying power of Labour Day, expressing belief that it serves to bring together workers globally in the pursuit of protecting their rights, interests, and freedoms.

Highlighting constitutional provisions, the President noted that Nepal’s Constitution guarantees every citizen the right to employment and labour, along with social security based on fair wages, benefits, and contributions.

He further stated that the Constitution ensures the right to equality, prohibiting discrimination in wages and social protections on the basis of gender for equal work.

“I believe that the working class will benefit from the implementation of constitutional provisions aimed at building a socialism-oriented economy rooted in democracy,” his message stated.

President Paudel also recalled that May 1 is globally celebrated as a historic day marking the recognition of workers’ rights, dignity, and contributions.
