NSL: Dhangadhi FC secures victory against Butwal Lumbini FC

KATHMANDU: Two-time runners-up Dhangadhi FC started their Nepal Super League (NSL) campaign with a convincing 4-1 win over Butwal Lumbini FC, thanks to a brace from Ahmad Hijazi.

In the match held at Dasharath Stadium, Tripureshwar, on Tuesday, Dhangadhi dominated the game, earning three points from their opening fixture. Meanwhile, Butwal Lumbini FC suffered their first defeat after a goalless draw against Jhapa FC in their previous match.

Alongside Hijazi’s two goals, Kritishratna Chhunju and George Prince Karki each contributed one goal for Dhangadhi. Butwal’s lone goal came from Kenta Hara.

Hijazi put Dhangadhi ahead in the 6th minute, but Butwal equalized in the 31st minute through Kenta. In the 75th minute, Dhangadhi’s marquee player Kritishratna doubled the lead. Hijazi scored his second goal in injury time, and moments later, George Prince sealed the victory with a fourth goal.

The next match will see Lalitpur City take on Pokhara Thunders on Wednesday.
