Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration tasked with Pathibhara cable car issue
The Ministry of Home Affairs has assigned the responsibility of coordinating efforts to resolve issues surrounding the construction of a cable car in the Pathibhara area of Taplejung to the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration.
In a statement issued by Section Officer Rishikesh Khatiwada, the Home Ministry stated that the regulation of cable cars falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Federal Affairs and General Administration, prompting the decision.
The Home Ministry has urged the concerned ministry to take immediate steps to address the issues, considering local concerns and coordinating with stakeholders to facilitate a solution.
Women’s T20: Nepal loses to Thailand
Nepal suffered a four-wicket defeat against Thailand in the second match of the Tri-nation Women’s T20 International cricket series.
At the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Nepal’s captain Indu Barma won the toss and opted to bat first. The Nepali women’s team managed to score 101 runs for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Kabita Kunwar was Nepal’s top scorer with 25 runs off 32 balls, hitting two boundaries. Bindhu contributed 25 runs off 25 balls with three boundaries, while captain Indu Barma added 15 runs.
For Thailand, Thipatcha Putthawong took three wickets, while Phannita Maya and Nattaya Boochatham claimed two each. Chanida Sutthiruang also secured one wicket.
Property worth Rs 6.5 million perish in fire
Property worth around Rs 6.5 million perished in a fire occurred at Thamel this afternoon.
The fire broke out due to short circuit in a house of Bhabishwor Sharma located at Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26, according to the Police Headquarters.
The blaze was doused with the help of security persons, locals and fire engines.
Suryabinayak-Dhulikhel road expansion progress
The expansion of the 16-kilometer stretch from Suryabinayak to Dhulikhel along the Araniko Highway to a 6-lane road has gained significant momentum.
The expansion work began in January 2023 with an original completion timeline of 36 months.
The project was divided into two sections: from Suryabinayak in Bhaktapur to Sanga, and from Sanga to Dhulikhel. However, the project has reported only about 30 percent progress so far.
PM reminded for revising some provisions of Cooperative Ordinance
The Central Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation Department of the CPN (UML) and the National Cooperative Federation of Nepal have suggested the government that it revised some provisions of recently brought ordinance to amend some Nepal Acts related to cooperatives through replacement bill.
Submitting the memorandums separately to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli at the PM’s official residence, Baluwatar today, both organisations drew PM Oli’s attention towards the urgency to correct some provisions in the ordinance so that the cooperative sector would be systematized.
Department Head Khag Raj Adhikari and Federation Chair Om Devi Malla submitted the documents of suggestion on the ordinance.
