Biplav-led Communist Party of Nepal to contest 2027 elections

KATHMANDU: The Communist Party of Nepal (CPN), led by Netra Bikram Chand ‘Biplav,’ has officially announced its participation in the upcoming 2027 elections. The party has decided to register with the Election Commission and select an appropriate election symbol.

Speaking at a press conference in Kathmandu on Tuesday, General Secretary Biplav shared the outcomes of the recently concluded sixth plenary meeting of the Ninth Central Committee.

He revealed that the party aims to use the upcoming elections to promote socialism with Nepali characteristics, which has been a core principle of the party.

Biplav highlighted the need to synthesize the research, experiments, and developments carried out over the past decade during the unified people’s revolution.

The party’s focus remains on addressing issues such as widespread corruption, squatters, metered interest, and debt terror in the country.

Additionally, the CPN plans to organize a ‘Jhapa-Kanchanpur People’s March’ starting from March 5.

The march will focus on the party’s opposition to the current political and economic systems, which they claim have failed to progress the nation in a proper manner.

In its new political strategy, the party also emphasized launching a sabotage campaign against the ongoing interference against Nepal’s sovereignty, while pushing for the implementation of a new economic path.

The meeting also expressed plans to engage in discussions with other political forces to rename the province of Koshi to Kirat-Limbuwan Province, reflecting the region’s ethnic and cultural identity.
