KATHMANDU: Gold prices have surged to an unprecedented level today.

Following today’s increase, the price of gold has reached its highest point ever after a continuous upward trend.

According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Traders, the Tihar festival, one of Nepal’s largest celebrations, has contributed to the record rise in gold prices.

On Wednesday, the price of fine gold was traded at NPR 170,700 per tola, reflecting an increase of NPR 2,200, and has now been set at NPR 171,000 for today.

This marks a rise of NPR 300 compared to Wednesday.

In contrast, the price of silver has decreased by NPR 30 per tola.

Silver, which was priced at NPR 2,120 per tola on Wednesday, is now fixed at NPR 2,090.
