Heavy rain and thunderstorms forecasted as monsoon conditions persist across Nepal

KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division reports that monsoon winds are currently affecting the entire country, with the monsoon low-pressure line positioned south of its average location.

Currently, hilly regions, including Koshi Province, are experiencing partial to generally cloudy weather, while the rest of the country has partly cloudy to mostly clear skies.

Light rain is occurring in one or two places within Koshi Province.

By this afternoon, the entire country is expected to see partial to generally cloudy conditions, with the possibility of light to moderate rain accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning in a few areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces.

Other provinces may experience these conditions at one or two locations. Additionally, heavy rain is possible in some areas of Koshi and Gandaki Provinces.

Tonight, the weather will remain partially to generally cloudy nationwide.

There is a continued possibility of light to moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning in parts of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini Provinces.

Heavy rain is expected in some locations within Koshi and Bagmati Provinces, with very heavy rainfall possible in one or two areas.

The department warns that over the next 24 hours, there remains a risk of heavy rain in parts of Koshi and Bagmati Provinces, with very heavy rain at one or two locations.

Citizens are advised to take precautions against potential risks, including floods, landslides, and erosion.
