National Security Advisor Bairagi resigns

KATHMANDU: Shankar Das Bairagi, the National Security Advisor to the National Security Council, has resigned from his position.

A source from the Office of the Prime Minister confirmed that Bairagi submitted his resignation on July 24.

Bairagi, a former Chief Secretary, was appointed as the National Security Advisor on Jestha 32, 2080 BS.

His resignation comes as the government prepares to appoint him as Nepal’s ambassador to a country, which has “not been fixed yet”.

The ruling coalition, consisting of the CPN-UML and Nepali Congress, has agreed to nominate Bairagi for the ambassadorial role.
