KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has taken stern action, filing a case worth nearly three billion rupees against six individuals for their alleged involvement in corruption related to health supplies procurement during the COVID-19 outbreak.
The anti-corruption body lodged the case at the Special Court in Kathmandu on Sunday.
As per CIAA sources, the defendants include Chandradev Mehetā, former Director of the Health Directorate in Dhankuta, along with biomedical engineer Kushal Dahal, accounts officer Dandar Singh Bishwakarma, procurement officer Udesh Kumar Shrestha, and Bishal Pandit and Manoj Kumar Acharya, proprietors of Hospitek Enterprises.
The accused face charges of irregularities totaling Rs. 28,966,050 in the procurement of health supplies during the COVID period.
