SC seeks details of verdict in marital rape case against suspended Judge Giri

KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has directed the submission of the High Court Patan’s verdict details in the case against the suspended district court judge, Bhuwan Giri, involving an alleged marital rape incident.

The division bench, consisting of Chief Justice Ishwar Prasad Khatiwada and Justice Sunil Kumar Pokharel, issued the order to request the submission of the High Court’s verdict on Wednesday.

Previously, the Kathmandu District Court had issued a non-residential order against the then judge of the Rupandehi District Court, Giri, in connection with the marital rape case.

Amidst the controversy, Giri was granted bail by the Kathmandu District Court.

Challenging this decision, the victim had filed a petition in the Patan High Court.

Following the Patan High Court’s affirmation of the Kathmandu District Court’s order, the victim approached the Supreme Court seeking justice.
