Traffic resumes on road along Karnali Highway



KATHMANDU: Vehicular movements on road at Satmod along Karnali Highway in Mugu district has resumed after being disrupted for two days due to amassed snow.

Three passengers buses moving towards Nepalgunj from district headquarter Gamgadi had been stranded due to the disruption in the road caused from snowfall.

The Road Division Office’s employees used excavator to remove the snow and ice today noon after which traffic resumed on the Satmod road, according to Santosh Shahi ofRara Chayanath Transport Pvt Limited.

The road section is a gateway to Dhuchhilake and Rara National Park’s buffer zone. All passengers in those buses had stayed awake last night since the vehicles could not move ahead due to thick snow and ice sheet along the way, said Rajyalaxmi Bom, one of the passengers.

“We spend the night in the buses without having any meal in the dead of winter. There was none to rescue us,” Bom shared the ordeal to Rastriya Samachar Samiti (RSS) on telephone.

According to her, children, elderly and sic passengers were hardest hit whiel they were stranded.
