Hydraulic cable failure strands Chandragiri cable car passengers

KATHMANDU: A hydraulic cable failure at the Chandragiri Cable Car stranded thousands of passengers on Monday, forcing the service to shut down from 2:30 PM.

The disruption left over a thousand visitors stuck at Chandragiri Hills.

According to Metropolitan Police Circle, Thankot, 22 cable car cabins were immobilized. Emergency systems were used to rescue passengers from the lower station, but those at the upper station faced significant delays.

A police official reported that the issue had not been resolved as of Monday evening, with repairs on the broken hydraulic cable still underway.
