KATHMANDU: Dinesh Maharjan, Chairman of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 4, has been recognized with the “Local Service Excellence Award 2081.”

The accolade was presented during the city’s 30th Metropolitan Day celebrations and the 16th Metropolitan Assembly, acknowledging Maharjan as the Best Ward Chairman for his exemplary contributions to governance, development initiatives, and overall progress in Ward No. 4.

As part of the honor, Maharjan received a medal and a cash prize of NPR 100,000.

Expressing his gratitude, Maharjan attributed the award to the unwavering support of Ward-4 residents and praised the efforts of local representatives and staff. “This recognition inspires me to work even harder for the community,” he said.

A CPN-UML representative, Maharjan assumed office after defeating Nepali Congress candidate Ram Prasad Nyaupane by 2,400 votes in the last election. He secured 4,604 votes compared to Nyaupane’s 2,289, with other candidates trailing behind.

Under Maharjan’s leadership, Ward-4 has achieved notable progress through the completion of key infrastructure projects and initiatives aimed at enhancing social services and the quality of life for its residents.

The award underscores Maharjan’s commitment to driving development and effectively serving his community.
