Bhim Rawal to discuss new political direction after CPN-UML exit

KATHMANDU: Dr Bhim Rawal, who was removed from CPN-UML last week, is set to hold a press conference on Wednesday to share his thoughts and outline his future work plan.

Govinda Duwal, a member of Rawal’s secretariat, stated that the press conference would provide insights into Rawal’s vision and updates on his activities thus far.

“Discussions are ongoing about the direction he will take, including whether to form a new political party,” Duwal informed Khabarhub.

Rawal is currently consulting with various individuals at his residence in Tokha Municipality.

While speculation has arisen about the possibility of him establishing a new party, Duwal clarified that no formal announcement will be made on Wednesday.

“He will focus on his plans and reflections rather than launching a new party,” Duwal added.

The format of the press conference—whether to invite well-wishers alongside the media or limit it to journalists—will be decided on Tuesday.

Rawal, a prominent figure in the CPN-UML for more than 40 years, faced marginalization within the party following the 10th General Convention held in Chitwan.

His competition with KP Sharma Oli for the chairpersonship during the convention marked a turning point, leading to his ostracization.

Despite being sidelined, Rawal remained active in the Far West and Karnali regions, operating independently of the party’s organized framework.

However, the CPN-UML formally revoked his membership last Wednesday, citing multiple allegations.
