Seven injured in crowd crush during NPL opening match in Kirtipur



KATHMANDU: Seven individuals were injured in a crowd crush while heading to the Tribhuvan University Cricket Ground in Kirtipur for the Nepal Premier League (NPL) opening match.

The match was held between Biratnagar Kings and Janakpur Bolts.

According to Superintendent of Police (SP) Nabaraj Adhikari, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police, the injured include Jayen Shrestha, 25, of Siddharthanagar, Rupandehi, currently residing in Baneshwor; Police Constable Ajay Tamang from Dhading, stationed at the Federal Parliament Security Base in Baneshwor; and Police Officer Dan Bahadur Raut from Jumla, also serving at the same base.

Others injured are Shishir Gautam, 29, from Kaligandaki, Gulmi, currently living in Baneshwor; Keshav Acharya, 32, from Kapilvastu, residing in Sitapaila, Kathmandu; Keshav Nengi from Baitadi; and Prem Khadgi, 32, from Musikot, Rukum, currently residing in Kathmandu.

SP Adhikari stated that Police Constable Tamang is in critical condition and is receiving treatment at the Neuro Hospital in Bansbari.

The other injured individuals are being treated at various hospitals in Kathmandu.
