KATHMANDU: Gold prices surged by 2,200 rupees in a single day, reaching a record high.

According to the Nepal Gold and Silver Traders Association, today (Wednesday), gold is priced at 170,700 rupees per tola, up from Rs 168,500 yesterday.

Silver also saw an increase today, priced at Rs 2,120 per tola, compared to yesterday’s price of Rs 2,105—an increase of Rs 15.

As gold prices continue to set new records, there has been a noticeable increase in purchases among the public, according to local businessmen.

With Tihar approaching, the demand for gold and silver is particularly high.

Businessmen note that gold is viewed as a safe investment, allowing for immediate cash in times of need, which has prompted many to buy in bulk.
