I will not hold the top spot forever: Prachanda

SURKHET: Chairman of Maoist Center Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has downplayed the significance of his party leadership role, stating it is not a big deal for him.

Speaking to journalists at Surkhet Airport on Friday, Prachanda emphasized that his identity and legacy extend beyond his current position.

He noted, “I am turning 70 years old and don’t need to stay in leadership all the time. The position of party Chairman is not a significant concern for me; I am already beyond the role of Prachanda the Chairman. The world recognizes the country’s progress as a result of revolutionary changes.”

Prachanda, who was in Surkhet for a training program, also addressed the issue of leadership transition.

He suggested that such a transfer is not essential at this time and hinted at the possibility of taking on a different role after forming a strong team.

Maoist Deputy General Secretary Janardan Sharma, who had recently raised concerns about leadership transition within the party, was sitting bside Prachanda.
