China expresses strong support for Nepal’s development efforts

KATHMANDU: Chinese Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, has emphasized China’s eagerness to support Nepal’s socio-economic development.

Speaking at an event jointly organized by the China Media Group Asia Pacific and the Sino-Nepal Media Society in Kathmandu, Ambassador Song reiterated China’s commitment to assisting Nepal in achieving economic growth.

Ambassador Song highlighted the significance of the projects under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) for Nepal.

He noted that the reform plans announced at the recent Third Plenum of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) are crucial for neighboring countries like Nepal.

He expressed confidence that the citizens of both countries would greatly benefit from these reforms.

“These reform plans will be instrumental in developing networks that connect Nepal and China across the Himalayas. They will also help enhance Nepal’s capacities in agriculture, industry, trade, digital technology, energy, and tourism, paving the way for prosperity,” he stated.

Additionally, Ambassador Song remarked that the Third Plenum conveyed China’s ongoing commitment to reform and openness.

He emphasized that the CPC is embarking on a new journey towards greater reform and openness in a new era.

Bishnu Rijal, a central committee member of the CPN (UML), highlighted the strong, trouble-free friendship between Nepal and China, based on mutual respect, universal equality, and long-lasting partnership.

He expressed optimism that both governments would soon finalize the modalities for implementing the BRI projects.

Kishor Shrestha, Chairman of the Nepal-China Media Forum, emphasized the importance of the media in fostering people-to-people connections and mutual cooperation.

He assured that media institutions in Nepal are committed to providing authentic, impartial, and responsible journalism.

Cao Yi, Director of China Media Group Asia Pacific, praised the warmth and sincerity of the Nepalese people, comparing his visits to Nepal to visiting an “old friend’s house.”

He noted that Nepal is on a path towards independence, self-strengthening, and prosperity.

The strong relations between the peoples of the two countries, he said, are as lofty as Mount Everest.

Dhruba Paudel, Chairman of the Sino-Nepal Media Society, concluded that such events are crucial in strengthening the bilateral ties between Nepal and China.
