Chitwan National Park sees increase in tourists arrival

CHITWAN: The number of tourists visiting Chitwan National Park (CNP) rose in the last fiscal year, 2023/24, compared to the previous fiscal year, 2022/23.

A total of 306,837 tourists visited the park during the last fiscal year, up from 299,412 the year before.

Information Officer at the Park, Ganesh Prasad Tiwari, noted that 274,299 tourists entered the park from the Sauraha area in the last fiscal year, an increase from 271,731 in the previous year.

Additionally, 27,956 tourists visited the park via Bharatpur metropolis in fiscal year 2023/24, compared to 23,257 in fiscal year 2022/23.

Tourism expert at Bharatpur Metropolitan City, Bishwa Subedi, attributed the increase in tourist numbers to the national and international publicity surrounding the Chitwan Visit Year.

He added that upcoming events such as religious programs, the Devghatdham festival, jungle safari marts, and marathons are planned to attract more foreign visitors.

Additionally, Diyalo Bangla, a new tourism destination, has opened to the public in celebration of the Chitwan Visit Year.
