NOC hikes prices of petroleum products

The Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has announced a hike in petroleum product prices following a Board of Directors meeting held on Sunday. Effective from midnight today, the prices of petrol, diesel, and kerosene have been raised. The NOC cited the increase in prices by the Indian Oil Corporation as a reason for adjusting prices in Nepal. Accordingly, the new rates are Rs 2 per liter higher for petrol and Rs 5 per liter higher for diesel and kerosene.

UML Chair Oli urges PM Dahal to avoid attention on appointments, transfers, and promotions

CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has advised Prime Minister and CPN-Maoist Center Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ not to focus on appointments, transfers, and promotions. The UML Chairman’s remarks come shortly after his meeting with Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba, a move seen as significant. However, Oli did not disclose any discussions about a potential change in government. He emphasized that now is not the time to be entangled in minor appointments, transfers, and promotions.

Fake Bhutanese Refugee Scam: Court grants 7-day pre-trial detention against Bechan Jha

The Kathmandu District Court has extended the detention period by 7 days for Bechan Jha, who was arrested in connection with the fake Bhutanese refugee case. The court has granted permission for an investigation into fraud and organized crime. Jha, who had been evading arrest for a long time, was brought under control by Nepal Police’s Special Bureau from Kanchanpur last Friday.

Madhav Nepal warns PM Dahal about KP Oli’s intentions

CPN-Unified Socialist Party Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal expressed strong criticism towards CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli and warned Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to be cautious of Oli’s intentions. During the opening ceremony of the 10th National Convention of the Socialist Party at Pragya Bhawan on Sunday, Nepal advised PM Dahal to stay wary of Oli, who continues to justify the dissolution of the parliament.

PM Dahal expresses dissatisfaction with being labeled ‘unstable’

Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal “Prachanda” has expressed dissatisfaction with being labeled unstable. Speaking at the inaugural session of the 10th national convention of the Unified Socialist Party in Kathmandu on Sunday, he criticized the characterization (unstable) in the party’s political document, stressing the need for left-wing unity. PM Dahal attributed the inception of the “People’s War” to his perceived instability. “If I wasn’t unstable, there wouldn’t have been a People’s War,” he asserted, highlighting his collaboration with Madhav Kumar Nepal since the Panchayat era in defending democracy.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane, and Chairman of CPN-UML KP Sharma Oli held a meeting on Sunday at Singha Durbar to discuss recent political developments, according to sources. The meeting between the leaders of the ruling coalition took place a day after UML Chair Oli met with Sher Bahadur Deuba, President of the main opposition party, the Nepali Congress. This meeting triggered a ripple across the political circle.

NEPSE declines by double digits, trading shrinks to Rs 3.6 billion

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index dropped by 14.83 points on Sunday, the first trading day of the week. The stock market fell to 2037.09 points today. During today’s trading session, the share prices of 190 companies declined, while only 49 companies saw an increase in their share prices. Seven companies experienced no change in their share prices. A total of 9,178,895 shares, amounting to Rs 3.60 billion (NPR 3,607,198,407) were traded today.

NC President Deuba calls meeting of office bearers

Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba has called a meeting of party office bearers on Monday. Chief Secretary Krishna Prasad Paudel said that Deuba has called a meeting of office bearers at his residence in Budhanilkantha, scheduled for Monday at 3 pm. “The meeting will delve into current political developments, including discussions on the upcoming central committee meeting and the status of affiliated organizations,” he stated.

Oli absent from CPN (US) National Convention as Upendra Yadav and Ashok Rai share stage for first time after party split

The 10th National Convention of the CPN (Unified Socialist) Party has commenced in Kathmandu, drawing attendance from key leaders of major political parties, though notably absent was CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli. Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal graced the event as the chief guest. According to General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal, leaders from all political parties were invited.

Four, including Chairman of Laligurans Multipurpose Cooperative, arrested

Police have arrested four individuals, including the Chairman of the Lalitpur-based Laligurans Multipurpose Cooperative, on charges of misusing depositors’ money. The arrested include Chairman Amar Das Shrestha, Secretary and Chief Executive Officer Surendra Bhandari, Treasurer Amrit Kumar Aryal, and member Kamad Baba Joshi. After complaints of fraud were registered against them, these individuals had been at large.
