KATHMANDU: Janata Samajbadi Party Chairman, Upendra Yadav, has taken a jab at Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ over the recent nominations of the ambassadorial candidates.

During the inauguration ceremony of the 10th National Convention of the CPN (Unified Socialist) held at the Nepal Academy on Sunday, Yadav directed his sarcasm towards the Prime Minister seated on the stage.

“The people have safeguarded democratic republic through great contributions. The country was heading towards authoritarian rule. You rebelled back then to save it,” he said to the socialist leaders. ” However, recent activities show that the threat to democracy comes from the people in power now. Democracy has become very weak.”

Yadav criticized the government for appointing party workers as ambassadors, targeting Prime Minister Dahal with his remarks.

“Influential people are appointed to positions because they are party workers. I hear that manpower mafia were appointed as ambassadors by the Prime Minister,” he said. “The Prime Minister says democracy is in danger, but it is actions like these that threaten democracy. What are our principles? A single ethnic dominance is being imposed.”

He also extended his wishes for the Unified Socialist Convention to bring about positive outcomes for the country’s progress.
