CPN (US) National Convention kicks off with a rally (Photos)

KATHMANDU: The 10th National Convention of the Unified Socialist Party has begun in Kathmandu.

Party Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal inaugurated the program at Nepal Academy in Kamaladi, Kathmandu.

The party held a rally from Bhrikutimandap at 11 am preceding the convention’s commencement.

The session, scheduled to continue until July 4, will deliberate on political reports, socialist programs, statutes, and organizational matters.

A total of 1,849 delegates from across the country are participating in the convention.

These delegates will elect a 299-member central committee and 21 office bearers.

The convention’s core management committee, led by Chairman Nepal, has confirmed that all necessary preparations for the convention are in their final stages.

Delegates from outside the Kathmandu Valley have reportedly arrived. Accommodation for delegates has been arranged near the venue, while food arrangements have been made within the convention premises.

Having emerged from a split within the CPN-UML approximately three years ago, the party regards this as its 10th national convention, continuing the legacy of the UML.

Current Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal, esteemed leader Jhalanath Khanal, and General Secretary Ghanashyam Bhusal are vying for leadership positions.

Here are some pictures of the rally organized by the party:
