NA team collects over two tons of garbage from Himalayas



KATHMANDU: The Clean Himalaya Campaign team has collected around 2 tons of garbage from various Himalayan regions, including Sagarmatha (Mount Everest).

The team from the Nepali Army has collected more than 2 tons garbage until Sunday.

The collected garbage comprises both biodegradable and non-biodegradable waste.

The ongoing Clean Himalaya Campaign is being actively pursued by the Nepali Army.

Coordinated by the Sagarmatha National Park, Sagarmatha Pollution Control Committee, Central Area Management Committee, local authorities, intellectuals, and representatives of various organizations, the Clean Himalaya Campaign team of the Nepali Army has been tirelessly working to implement ‘leave no trace in the Himalayas’ initiative.

An Adventure to Save the Himalayas’ campaign aims to collect around 10 tons of waste and five human remains from various camps of Sagarmatha, Lhotse, and Nuptse Himalayas.

The campaign, initiated from April 11, is set to conclude on the occasion of World Environment Day on June 5.
