UML chair Oli pledges Ilam’s development; targets Unified Socialist in by election victory rally

ILAM: CPN-UML Chairman KP Oli has entrusted the task of overseeing Ilam’s development and prosperity, along with the newly-elected legislator Suhang Nembang, to the party.

During Nembang’s victory rally in Ilam following the by-elections held on Saturday, Oli reiterated his previous commitment to entrust the responsibility of Ilam’s development and prosperity to Suhang, provided he was elected, and assured to stand by his words.

Reflecting on his statements made during the campaign, Oli emphasized, “The responsibility for Ilam’s development lies with Nembang. He is my successor, and leading here is his duty, which we will undertake together.”

Oli also made pointed remarks regarding former Prime Minister and CPN-Unified Socialist party leader Jhalanath Khanal, suggesting that those who had aimed to defeat him in the elections have now been given an opportunity to face reality.

During the by-elections, while the CPN-Maoist Center supported the UML candidate, the Khanal’s Unified Socialist Party nominated Jit Bahadur Rai, who managed to secure only 408 votes.

Addressing the slogans of the ‘identity-campaigners’, the UML Chair asserted that it is crucial for everyone to prioritize their identity as Nepali nationals and advocate for the people’s development agenda to fulfill the slogan of ‘Happy Nepali, Prosperous Nepal’.
