GAIGHAT: A devastating forest fire has ravaged approximately 300 hectares of woodland in the municipalities of Chaudandigadhi, Belaka, and Triyuga in Udayapur district.

The Division Forest Office reported that the wildfire, ongoing for the past 10 days, has inflicted extensive damage on Phooljor Devisthan, Saraswoti, and Beltar community forests.

Information Officer Jaheshwor Sah, from the Division Forest Office in Gaighat, stated that the blaze, exacerbated by drought conditions, has decimated small plants and trees.

Additionally, a separate forest fire has engulfed a jungle in Limchungbung Rural Municipality-5. Despite efforts to contain the wildfire, adverse weather conditions, including storms, have hindered complete success, as reported by the office.
