CPN-UML to host victory celebration in Ilam, Chairman Oli to address the gathering

KATHMANDU: The CPN-UML is set to host a victory celebration in Ilam today, following the triumph of Suhang Nembang in the Ilam-2 by-election.

The event is scheduled to commence at 1 pm this afternoon, with Chairman KP Sharma Oli and other party leaders delivering addresses.

Suhang Nembang of CPN-UML clinched a resounding victory in the by-election for the House of Representatives member in Ilam Constituency No. 2.

Nembang secured the win by defeating his closest rival, Nepali Congress candidate Dambar Khadka, with a significant margin of 5,830 votes.

With a commanding 27,772 votes, Suhang emerged victorious, while Nepali Congress candidate Khadka garnered 21,942 votes.

This victory underscores the enduring political legacy of the Nemwang family, as Suhang’s father, Subash Nemwang, previously represented Ilam 2 in the House of Representatives.

Following Subash Nemwang’s unfortunate passing last year, the by-election was convened on April 27 to fill the vacant seat.
