UML’s Suhang Nemwang emerges victorious in Ilam-2

UML gets 27,772 votes; Nepali Congress 21,942, and Dakendra Thegim 11,457 votes

ILAM: Suhang Nemwang of CPN-UML secured a resounding victory in the by-election for the member of the House of Representatives in Ilam Constituency No. 2.

Nemwang clinched the win by defeating his closest rival, Nepali Congress candidate Dambar Khadka, with a significant margin of 5,830 votes.

Suhang secured victory with a commanding 27,772 votes, while Nepali Congress candidate Khadka garnered 21,942 votes.

Independent candidate Dakendra Thegim obtained 11,457 votes, while Milan Limbu, who transitioned from the Maoist Center to become a candidate for the Rastriya Swatantra Party, received 5,050 votes.

This victory marks a continuation of the political legacy of the Nemwang family, as Suhang’s father, Subash Nemwang, previously represented Ilam 2 in the House of Representatives.

Following Subash Nemwang’s unfortunate passing last year, the by-election was convened on April 27 to fill the vacant seat.

Meanwhile, CPN-UML candidate Daman Bahadur Bhandari has been elected in the by-election in Bajhang (1) as a member of the Provincial Assembly.
