I personally blocked Maoist Center from becoming Chief Minister in Koshi: Dr. Shekhar Koirala

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has stated that he personally prevented the CPN-Maoist Center from becoming the Chief Minister in Koshi Province.

Speaking at a program held in Kathmandu on Saturday, he revealed that even after NC agreed to support the candidacy of the Maoist Center he intervened to stop it.

Dr. Koirala openly admitted that he had not allowed the Maoist Center to become Chief Minister in any condition in Koshi.

“Maoist Center have 32 seats in the Federal Parliament. We have 90 seats, yet they try to drag us behind,” the NC leader said.

He also mentioned that NC leaders were not pleased when the Maoist Center was given the Mayor’s position in Bharatpur Metropolitan City for two terms.

“I don’t know how many of you are going to Chitwan. Go there and ask, go there and understand. No NC cadre is happy with the alliance,” Dr. Koirala said.

He further stated that from now on, NC will contest every election alone.
