Celebrating 50 years of friendship: Nepal and Republic of Korea unveil commemorative logo and success stories

KATHMANDU: The Korean Embassy in Nepal commemorated the 50th Anniversary of Diplomatic Relations between the Republic of Korea and Nepal through an elaborate ceremony introducing a Commemorative Logo and a book featuring Success Stories post the Employment Permit System (EPS) program in Kathmandu today.

High-profile dignitaries, including Nepal’s Foreign Minister NP Saud and Republic of Korea Ambassador Park Taeyoung, jointly revealed the commemorative logo, set to be used for Korea-related programs by both the Embassy and the Government of Nepal.

The logo artistically incorporates “50 Years” to signify the milestone, utilizing colors and elements from the flags of both nations. The accompanying slogan, “Everesting Friendship – Korea-Nepal 50th Anniversary,” ingeniously combines “Mt. Everest,” representing Nepal, with “Everlasting” to symbolize the enduring friendship and partnership between the two countries.

In addition to the logo unveiling, a book highlighting success stories was introduced.

The book features 26 Nepali returnees who have successfully established businesses in Nepal, drawing on skills acquired in the Republic of Korea through programs like the Employment Permit System (EPS). The success stories cover sectors such as Manufacturing, Agriculture, Service, and Education.

Since establishing diplomatic ties in 1974, the Republic of Korea and Nepal have cultivated warm relations, experiencing steady growth in exchanges and mutual cooperation across various sectors.

Korean Ambassador to Nepal, Park Taeyoung, announced plans for various commemorative programs throughout 2024, encompassing cultural, economic, and development initiatives. Ambassador Taeyoung expressed optimism that these programs would deepen the existing close ties, taking bilateral relations to new heights.
