U-19 Asia Cup: Nepal to face Sri Lanka today



KATHMANDU: Nepal will take on Sri Lanka in the opening match of the ACC U-19 Asia Cup cricket tournament today.

The match, scheduled to take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), will begin at 10:45 AM Nepali time on Friday.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) has sent a 15-member team to the UAE, led by captain Hemanta Dhami, with Arjun Kumal serving as vice-captain.

Other players include Akash Tripathi, Uttam Thapa, Mayan Yadav, Naren Saud, Younis Bikram Singh Thakuri, Naren Bhatta, Santosh Yadav, Yuvraj Khatri, Roshan Bikram, Bipin Mahato, Aparajit Poudel, Abhishek Tiwari, and Ranjit Kumar.

Shakti Gauchan is the head coach of the U-19 team, with Dhirendra Chand as the assistant coach.

Nepal is placed in Group ‘B’ of the eight-nation tournament, alongside Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Group ‘A’ consists of hosts UAE, India, Pakistan, and Japan.

After today’s match against Sri Lanka, Nepal will face Bangladesh on Sunday.

Nepal’s final group-stage match will be against Afghanistan on Tuesday.

The semi-finals are scheduled for December 6, with the final match taking place on December 8.
