Minister Khadka stresses on renewable energy promotion



KATHMANDU: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Dipak Khadka, has said the government would provide possible support for the promotion of renewable energy sector.

Minister Khadka requested the bodies concerned including the Alternative Energy Promotion Centre to actively involve for the same.

At a programme organized here today on the occasion of 28th anniversary of the centre, he shared that the bill related to renewable energy should be passed at the earliest for its development, adding the bill would be tabled with priority in coming Parliament session.

The Energy Minister underlined that the role of centre is important to fulfill the government’s goal of generating 28,500 megawatts of electricity by 2035.

On the occasion, he honoured individuals and organisations for their contribution to the development of renewable energy.

Similarly, Minister of State for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Purna Bahadur Tamang, lauded the role played by the centre to illuminate the places, where there is no electricity, through the medium of renewable energy.

Likewise, Executive Director of the Centre, Nabaraj Dhakal, shared that the centre has constructed 40,253 kilowatts-micro and small-scale hydropower projects so far as well as provided renewal energy service to 3.650 million households of the country so far.

Centre employees had donated blood on the occasion of anniversary.
