Salyan truck accident death toll rises to four



KATHMANDU: The death toll from a mini truck accident in Salyan has risen to four, with seven others injured.

The Ra 1 B 2402 mini truck, which was transporting paddy and straw from Dubede in Kapurkot Rural Municipality-6 to Sinbang, was involved in the accident last evening.

The truck driver, 26-year-old Man Bahadur Bhandari, who sustained serious injuries, succumbed to his injuries during treatment at Rapti Provincial Hospital in Dang Tulsipur.

The victims who lost their lives include 14-year-old Gobardhan Khadka, 12-year-old Anil Bhandari, and 15-year-old Srijan Basnet.

According to Resham Bahadur Khatri, Information Officer and Police Inspector at the District Police Office Salyan, two individuals died at the scene, one on the way to the hospital, and the driver later in treatment.

The injured include 13-year-old Khuma Basnet, 35-year-old Nanda Basnet, 17-year-olds Jeet Sagar Basnet and Sanjeev Basnet, 29-year-old Shankar Khadka, 35-year-old Dev Bahadur Basnet, and 22-year-old Hikmat Thapa.

They are currently receiving treatment at Rapti Regional Hospital in Tulsipur.

Police reported that the truck fell 150 meters off the road, and the cause of the accident remains under investigation.
