SINDHULI: The Nepalthok-Khurkot section of the BP Highway, which was obstructed due to landslides in several sites after the downpour since Thursday night, has come into operation from this evening.
Police said that the landslide at Kamerephant of Sunkoshi Rural Municipality-3 is cleared and a temporary diversion is constructed at Kandhungri of ward no. 7 to resume one-way traffic.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Govinda Raj Kafle said that hundreds of vehicles along with the passengers, and ambulances with dead bodies stranded at Tuppidanda have made their way to Sindhulimadi after the traffic resumption.
Kafle shared that the security personnel and local residents worked to ensure the alternative management for the traffic as several sites of the roads were either inundated, damaged or washed away from the swollen river.
Of the total four sections of the BP Highway, the vehicular movement has resumed along the Khurkot-Nepalthok, Sindhulimadi-Khurkot and Bardibas-Sindhulimadi sections.
SP Kafle said that it could take some more days to resume vehicular movement along Nepalthok-Dhulikhel road section. It is said that the downpour has heavily damaged the roads in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality.
Meanwhile, the roads along the Mid Hill Highway have been blocked after dozens of landslides in different places.
