Nepal imports smartphones worth nearly Rs 7 billion in two months

KATHMANDU: Nepal imported smartphones valued at nearly Rs 7 billion in the first two months of the current fiscal year.

According to the Customs Department, a total of 454,958 smartphones were imported during this period.

Meanwhile, petroleum products topped the import list, with petrol imports amounting to Rs 11.65 billion and diesel imports reaching Rs 13.64 billion.

Additionally, LP gas imports were valued at Rs 9.42 billion.

The import of vehicles also saw a significant rise, with motorcycles valued at Rs 2.94 billion and electric vehicles at Rs 2.43 billion.

In terms of exports, Nepal primarily exports carpets, tea, jute, yarn, and other items.
