KATHMANDU: The Parliamentary Hearing Committee meeting scheduled to decide on the appointment of Election Commission Commissioner Krishnaman Pradhan has been postponed.

Nirmala Devi Lamichhane Wasti, Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat, stated that the meeting originally set for 11 am today has been rescheduled to 5 pm.

She cited technical reasons for the delay.

The revised session will convene at Shankar Hall at the Federal Parliament building, New Baneshwar.

Pradhan’s nomination as Election Commissioner was proposed during a Constitutional Council meeting.

Following this, the Parliamentary Hearing Committee received complaints, including allegations of sexual exploitation from a woman.

There is mounting pressure against Pradhan’s approval, particularly from the Prime Minister’s office.
