Dharche landslide: Search for missing continues



GORKHA: A search of those missing in a landslide occurred at Dharche rural municipality-5, Singla of northern Gorkha district on Sunday has begun since this morning.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) at the District Police Office, Ramesh Kumar Shrestha shared that the search for the five persons who went missing in the landslide has been continued today when there was no progress in the search operation throughout the day on Sunday.

He said the Nepal Police, Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and locals have joined hands to search for the missing persons.

“They are facing difficulty to find out the status of those missing as many houses and agricultural farms were buried in the landslide,” he said.

JCV machines have been used to search for the missing. Jeet Bahadur Gurung along with Kanchi Gurung, 35, Sulal Kancha Gurung, 60, Ramesh Gurung, 33, and Ramesh Pariyar, 24, went missing after a landslide occurred since Sunday night had swept away the agricultural farm and a house of Jit Bahadur Gurung, a local.

It is believed that the landslide reaching to the Budhigandaki River might have washed them away.

DSP Shrestha said that the police have started searching for the missing people in the vicinity of Budhigandaki river from today.
