Wrestling in Kalapathar aims to set world record

KALAPATHAR, SOLUKHUMBU: In celebration of Everest Day on May 29, a wrestling competition was held at Kalapathar, aiming to set a world record for the highest altitude wrestling match.

The international friendly match took place at an altitude of 5,644 meters, organized by the Nepal Women’s Wrestling Foundation.

Nepal’s first female wrestler, Bhagwati Khadka (Yunika), competed against American wrestler Daniel Morrison (Danny Mo) in the event. Khadka emerged victorious in the match.

Khadka, who has been aspiring to set a world record through wrestling, stated that this event would be a world record as no wrestling match has ever been held at such a high altitude.
