Hearing on writ against Home Minister Lamichhane postponed

KATHMANDU: The hearing on the writ filed against Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane at the Supreme Court (SC) has been postponed.

The bench, presided over by Judge Sunil Kumar Pokharel, was set to conduct the hearing today.

Attorney General Dinmani Pokharel was also slated to attend the hearing.

However, the scheduled hearing was postponed after petitioner Anupam Bhattarai requested an adjournment of the proceedings.

Advocate Bhattarai earlier lodged the writ following Attorney General Pokharel’s exoneration of Home Minister Lamichhane in a cooperative fund misappropriation case.

The petition contends that, given the investigative agency falls under the purview of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Lamichhane should be suspended from his position, and a thorough investigation into the cooperative fraud should be conducted.

Concurrently, a parliamentary inquiry committee was formed on Tuesday to investigate the cooperative case, signaling further developments in this matter.
