Nepal’s Foreign Secretary Lamsal meets with UN Secretary-General Guterres in New York



KATHMANDU: Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal engaged in a courtesy visit with UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres in New York on Tuesday.

The Nepal Mission to the UN in New York conveyed that discussions encompassed the Nepal-UN collaboration, Nepal’s transition from the Least Developed Country (LDC) classification, the UN’s aid in Nepal’s developmental initiatives, climate change concerns, and the significance of robust multilateralism.

Secretary Lamsal’s presence in the US is for participation in the General Debate of the Fourth International Conference on Small Island Developing States (SIDS) on behalf of the LDC groups.

Additionally, Secretary Lamsal commended SIDS for adopting a robust agenda and affirmed LDC’s support for SIDS.

She underscored the substantial toll borne by countries in unique circumstances due to climate change, urging global backing for them, as per reports from the Nepal Mission to the UN in New York.
